The concept of Focus on the Forest began 5 years ago on Sept 6th and to celebrate there will be a cleanup out at Tarryall Reservoir (the public forest surrounding it), with a FREE BBQ and MUSIC to follow. Some of us will be camping for the whole weekend and we invite you to make a weekend of it.
BONUS - A photojournalist from Denver Channel 9 news will be joining us and following the cleanup, as well as a reporter from Fairplay.
PLEASE arrive early to sign in but please PRE-REGISTER BELOW (if you have pre-registered for an event this year a simple email will be sufficient letting us know you are coming and who might be joining you.)
MEETING TIME & LOCATION:
9:30am - Sign-In and Registration at Main Campsite (signs will be posted from the south entrance (Turner Gulch Rd, CR 23) directing people to the site.
10:00am - Safety Briefing and break into cleanup groups
DIRECTIONS TO STAGING AREA
Take Hwy 24 from Woodland Park west through Lake George
Turn RIGHT on Tarryall Rd (CR 77) and head to Tarryall Reservoir for about 26 miles
Turn LEFT on Turner Gulch (CR 23), the south entrance to the Reservoir
(signs will be posted indicating turns and roads to take, but the following may also help)
Go about 1.5 miles and vier LEFT onto Packer Gulch
At the “Y” of FSR 239 & FSR 144 vier LEFT onto 144
Continue about a mile or so and go LEFT on FSR 239A
Follow it to the top to the large intersection and continue straight to the next site on the LEFT
The “Chariot” (old horse trailer used for trash) will be at the entrance with a our banner on it
LUNCH: PROVIDED, along with LIVE MUSIC
BRING: Refillable water bottle, gloves, wear sunscreen, a coat, long pants & STURDY shoes/boots
PROVIDED: water, gloves (if needed), grabbers, trash bag
PRE-REGISTRATION is VERY helpful so that we can be sure to bring enough supplies and food for everyone
